Muenster High School Competes at STATE UIL Academic Meet

UIL State

Muenster ISD was pleased to have 7 students, 4 coaches, and 2 parents travel to Austin for the State Academic UIL competition.  The group was proudly wearing their special T-shirts provided by the PTO and received a send off Thursday morning in front of the high school.

Everyone enjoyed stops at Slovacek's and the Round Rock outlet mall before checking into the hotel.  Dinner at Chuy's was followed by viewing the State winning entries of the Theatrical Design competition and enjoying two of the 1A One Act Plays.  One of the plays, Treasure Island by Abbott ISD, won first place as well as receiving best actress, Samuel French award, and Outstanding Technical Award.  Then it was back to the hotel for study and practice time.
Friday was a full day of competition, meetings, practice time, and torrential rain.  Martie McCoy wrote an excellent piece for the Editorial Writing Competition, but did not place in the top 6.  Colby Endres placed third in Number Sense.
Saturday was a beautiful day, full of competitions and some fun time.  The Spelling and Vocabulary team of Savannah Bohl, Major Eldridge, Colby Endres, and Matthew Klement competed first.  Major received 6th place and the team was State Runner-Up.
Next was Calculator Applications in which Colby won first place.  Last was the Mathematics contest.  Colby received first place and the Mathematics team of Colby, Major, Morgan Hennigan, and Abby Walterscheid placed fourth.
There were lots of smiles, fun pictures, and wading in the Littlefield Fountain for a group picture before heading to Cheddar's to celebrate the students' successes.
