I have been the District Librarian at Muenster ISD since 2004. Having two libraries has been such a blessing. It is wonderful that all students have their own library to use. I am in the Elementary Library on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday and the JH & HS Library on Monday and Friday. Library Aide, Barbie Barnhill, is in the library that I am not in for that day. We offer weekly library programs for the PreKindergarten through Sixth Grade Students.
The JH & HS library fiction is shelved by their genre however the elementary fiction is shelved by call number with a sticker denoting its genre. We have a well rounded collection that includes fiction for all ages, interesting and informational non-fiction, and a variety of reference materials. We also have an assortment of eBooks in our collection. It is my goal to encourage all students to become independent, information-literate, and lifelong readers. Makerspace has also become a fun yet educational learning environment in the elementary library that the students thoroughly enjoy.
I also serve as the Faculty Adviser for the MHS National Honor Society. I coach the HS UIL Spelling for team, UIL Informative and Persuasive Speaking at the HS level, Listening Skills at the JH level and Dictionary Skills at the Elementary level. I'm proud to announce that my HS UIL Spelling Team of Morgan Eldridge, Major Eldridge and Colby Endres were UIL 2A State Spelling Champions 2017!! Our 2018 team of Major Eldridge, Colby Endres, Savannah Bohl and Matthew Klement were State Qualifiers and Major placed 6th individually. Our 2019 team of Major, Colby, Savannah & Matthew were State Runner-Ups and Major placed 5th individually. In 2021, our Spelling Team took 2nd place at the State Level. So proud!
