2nd Grade Joins a Virtual Field Trip to an Oyster Farm

🌊 A Day of Discovery in 2nd Grade! 📚

Our 2nd graders in Mrs. Hoepfner’s and Mrs. Craddock’s classes had a special learning experience without ever leaving the classroom! Students traveled virtually to an oyster farm along the Matagorda Bay and Texas Gulf Coast through the Texas Farm Bureau’s Farm From School program.

Students got an inside look at how oysters are farmed and discovered why these amazing creatures are such an important part of the Texas Gulf Coast ecosystem. They enjoyed hearing directly from oyster farmer Jacob Aparicio, who shared what it’s like to work on an oyster farm. Students also completed activities in their workbooks as they followed along with the virtual field trip.

This hands-on experience was a wonderful way to connect science, agriculture, and Texas geography while giving our students a glimpse into an industry right here in our state! 🌊🦪

We are so thankful to the Texas Farm Bureau’s Farm From School program for bringing this unique experience to our 2nd grade classrooms! 💙
