Lunch and Breakfast Program for 2025-2026 school year

Muenster ISD will process household applications during this school year to ensure student eligibility for free or reduced-price meals.   

Children need healthy meals to learn. Muenster ISD offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast costs $2.15; lunch costs Elementary: $3.30/ JHHS: $3.55. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced-price meals. Reduced-price is $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch. If you received a notification letter that a child is directly certified for free or reduced-price meals, do not complete an application. Let the school know if any children in the household attending school are not listed in the letter.
The questions and answers that follow and attached directions provide additional information on how to complete the application. Complete only one application for all the students in the household and return the completed application to Kourtney Vogel, PO Box 608 Muenster, TX 76252, kourtney.vogel@muensterisd.org. 1. Who Can Get Free Meals?

•  Income—Children can get free or reduced-price meals if a household’s gross income is within the limits described in the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines.
• Special Assistance Program Participants—Children in households receiving benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Food Distribution Program for Households on Indian Reservations (FDPIR),or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), are eligible for free meals.
• Foster—Foster children who are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court are eligible for free meals.
• Head Start or Early Head Start—Children participating in these programs are eligible for free meals.
• Homeless, Runaway, and Migrant—Children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant qualify for free meals. If you haven’t been told about a child’s status as homeless, runaway, or migrant or you feel a child may qualify for one of these programs, please call or email Jackie Reynolds. 
• WIC Recipient—Children in households participating in WIC may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals.

2. What If I Disagree with the School’s Decision About My Application?

Talk to school officials. You also may ask for a hearing by calling or writing to Matthew Quick, PO Box 608

3. My Child’s Application Was Approved Last Year. Do I Need to Fill Out A New One?

Yes. An application is only good for that school year and for the first few days of this school year.
Send in a new application unless the school has told you that your child is eligible for the new school year.

4. If I Don’t Qualify Now, May I Apply Later?

Yes. Apply at any time during the school year. A child with a parent or guardian who becomes unemployed may become eligible for free and reduced-price meals if the household income drops below the income limit.

5. What If My Income Is Not Always the Same?

List the amount normally received. If a household member lost a job or had hours/wages reduced, use current income.

6. We Are in The Military. Do We Report Our Income Differently?

Basic pay and cash bonuses must be reported as income. Any cash value allowances for off-base housing,
food, or clothing, or Family Subsistence Supplemental Allowance payments count as income. If housing is part of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative, do not include the housing allowance as income. Any additional combat pay resulting from deployment is excluded from income.

7. May I Apply If Someone in My Household Is Not a U.S. Citizen?

Yes. You, your children, or other household members do not have to be U.S. citizens to apply for free or
reduced-price meals.

8. Will Application Information Be Checked? Yes. We may also ask you to send written proof of the reported household income.

9. My Family Needs More Help. Are There Other Programs We Might Apply For?

To find out how to apply for other assistance benefits, contact your local assistance office or 2-1-1.

10. Can I Apply Online?

Yes! The online application has the same requirements and will ask you for the same information as the paper application. Visit muensterisd.net to begin or to learn more about the online application process. Contact

Income Eligibility Guidelines 2025-2026

This service allows you to pay for school meals online using a credit/debit card or electronic check.

What is MySchoolBucks?
MySchoolBucks is an online payment service that provides parents the ability to securely pay for meals, monitor student cafeteria purchases and receive email notifications for low account balances.

• Convenience - Available 24/7 on the web or through our mobile app for your smartphone
• Efficiency - Make payments for all your students, as well as other school–related payments (t-shirts, field trip fees, athletic shoes, etc.). Eliminate the need for your students to bring cash or checks to school.
• Control - Set low balance alerts, view account activity, recurring/automatic payments & more!
• Flexibility - Make payments using credit/debit cards and electronic checks.
• Security – MySchoolBucks adheres to the highest security standards, including PCI (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and CISP (Cardholder Information Security Program).

1. Go to www.mySchoolBucks.com and register for a free parent account.

2. Add your student(s) using school name and birthdate or student ID.

3. Add payment method (optional).

4. Set up "low balance notifications". 

5. Meal purchasing and student account tracking.

Make a payment to your students’ accounts with your credit/debit card or electronic check.

A program fee of 3.95% will be assessed to each transaction to ensure payment security and provide for the simple and convenient use of the web portal and mobile app. You will have the opportunity to review any fees and cancel if you choose, before you are charged.

Each student has an individual meal account and will not be “tied” to the siblings’ accounts. With the MySchoolBucks online service, parents are able to specify the exact amount each child should have in their account. If a family writes one check, please specify on the envelope or on an enclosed note, the amount each student should receive in their account.

Charges will be 7 meals per student. If you set up the MySchoolBucks account, you are able to receive email alerts of low balances.

MUENSTER CAFETERIA SNACK BAR

The snack bar is a new addition to our elementary lunch time.  It is optional, but we want to be sure parents are aware of the opportunity for our students.  Students need to know their student ID number and have money in their lunch account to purchase items (no charging is allowed).  If your child would like to purchase an item from the snack bar, please have them turn the money into their teacher in the morning. You can put the money in a labeled envelope or baggie. This will help the cafeteria flow more efficiently and prevent long wait times in the snack bar line. You can, also, add money to your child’s MySchoolBucks account.

MySchoolBucks® is an online payment service that provides a quick and easy way to add money to your student’s meal account using a credit/debit card or electronic check. You can also view recent purchases, check balances, and set-up low balance alerts for FREE!

Add your students using their (1) school name and (2) birthdate or student ID.
Make a payment to your students’ accounts with your credit/debit card or electronic check.

Payments for Breakfasts or Lunches
Elementary students - Give payments to Homeroom Teacher or pay with My School Bucks online
JH/HS students - Give payments to Mrs. Hofbauer in HS office or pay with My School Bucks online
 
Our lunch system is computerized and each student’s account will be allowed to charge up to 7
meals. Please pay up front or in advance by check or cash. Please place payment in an
envelope with his/her name on it, so it can be credited to the correct account. You will
receive a notice (in the student's backpack) when he/she is out of money. Elementary students give their
“lunch money” to their classroom teacher and it is then turned into the office. If your child brings
lunch from home but wants a milk from the cafeteria, the cost is 65 cents.
